Spam is a nuisance for all of us, and for some it causes serious and costly disruptions to their Web enterprises. At Ephective Hosting, we are not sitting around letting the spammers call the shots. Your first line of attack are our mail filters, which selectively bounce messages, based on the content of an e-mail's headers. For more power, use SpamAssassin to scan your incoming mail and determine the probability of a mail message being spam. Enabling SpamAssassin globally makes it process any message sent to your domain, while enabling it per-user will make it scan only the messages destined for a particular mailbox.
Antivirus and Worm blocker
E-mail transmitted worms and viruses have recently become quite a problem not only for users around the world, but for Internet Service Providers as well. Here at Ephective Hosting we employ a simple but very powerful anti-virus solution. When enabled, the anti-virus software will scan all incoming messages. In case viruses are found, the server will not deliver the infected messages to the user's mailbox. The anti-virus software is disabled by default, and can be enabled from the Mail Manager in the online Control Panel.
SMTP, POP3, IMAP Servers
SMTP: Our SMTP servers allow you to send e-mail from you@yourdomain.com. Bear in mind that the SMTP server is using the POP-before-SMTP authentication method. What this means for you is that you will always have to log into the incoming mail server (POP3/IMAP) before being able to send through the outgoing mail server. POP3: Each of our shared hosting packages comes with POP3 e-mail accounts in addition to e-mail forwards, aliases, and auto-responders. This means you can retrieve e-mail directly from mailboxes on the mail server using an e-mail program such as Eudora, Outlook, or Outlook Express. IMAP: Our IMAP server will permit your "client" e-mail program (e.g. Eudora, Outlook) to access remote messages stored as if they were local. For example, e-mail stored on an IMAP server can be accessed from a desktop computer at home, a workstation at the office, and a notebook computer while traveling, without the need to transfer messages or files back and forth between these computers.

Detailed Website Statistics
The Site Statistics feature found in your Control Panel gives you access to statistics about your Website, such as hits, visits, etc. Site Statistics are updated once every 24 hours. You can choose basic statistics offered by Webalizer (this is the default setting) or more detailed statistics through AWStats.
Custom 404 Page
With your Ephective Hosting website you can create a custom 404 error page for your visitors. This can help you retain visitors who may leave if they get the standard "File not found" page. With a little customization, you can make your 404 page consistent with your site design and much more informative, and provide your visitors with the chance to navigate to other places in your site.
SSL for Secure Ordering
SSL is a protocol that uses encryption to safeguard the transmission of sensitive data. Compatible with all modern browsers, it is wise to use SSL when you process credit card transactions on your website, or when you have password-protected areas of your site. At Ephective Hosting, your site visitors will be able to connect through SSL using a shared security certificate. If you wish to install a personal security certificate (dedicated to your domain only), you need to purchase one from a certificate authority. Our fee to install a personal security certificate is $60 per year.

All domain names registered through Ephective Hosting.com are non-refundable.
Free Subdomains	15
Subdomains are individual Web addresses built upon a pre-existing domain name, e.g. sub.example.com. For example, if you wish to have a separate website for your sales department, you could create a subdomain called sales.example.com. This way the URL of your sales website will look more professional and thus add to the total competence of your web presence. With Ephective Hosting you can have as many subdomains as you need. We offer up to 15 subdomains as part of our B-Class hosting plan and 30 for our A-Class plan. If you need more, there is a small one-time fee of $5 per additional subdomain for the B-Class plan or $3 for the A-Class plan.
Domain Parking	5
When you have a domain parked on your account it will act the same way as your primary domain. It will show the same site and any e-mail sent to the parked domain will be delivered to the mailboxes you already have for the primary domain. So for example if you have example.com, example.net and example.org, and need all of them to open your Website, domain parking may be the right solution for you. With our B-Class plan you can have up to five additional domains parked with your primary account. If you need to have more parked domains, consider our A-Class plan, where ten domain parking slots are available.
Can Host ANY Domain
We can host any domain name extension. Just register your Website name and set the DNS servers for it to the ones we will give you, or use your own DNS servers and set up a zone to point to our server's IP address.

Personal CGI-BIN
CGI (which is a protocol that stands for Common Gateway Interface) is used to accomplish tasks, such as the operation of a hit counter or guestbook, that are not supported by basic HTML. To run these functions you need to place your CGI scripts in the CGI-bin directory located in your Control Panel. This directory is set up with special permissions to execute CGI scripts.
Server Side Includes (SSI)
Our servers support Server Side Includes (SSI), a method of calling code from within a page. SSI makes it possible for you to include a snippet of HTML code into a page or a group of pages. When you want to change the code, you simply change it in one place, and then all the other pages are updated automatically.

These include Site Search Engine, Guestbook, and FormMail: Site Search Engine: Take advantage of our search engine feature that will help your Website visitors search throughout your site. If you wish to have any newsgroups, message boards, forums etc. on your Website you will need a database. A database is a structured collection of data. It may be anything from a simple shopping list to a picture gallery or vast amounts of information in a corporate network. To add, access and process data stored in a computer database, you need a database management system such as MySQL. When buying the B-Class hosting plan from Ephective Hosting, you get ten MySQL databases, which you can easily manage through the online phpMyAdmin Database Manager, found in the Control Panel. With our A-Class plan, twenty MySQL databases are included.
phpMyAdmin
phpMyAdmin is a tool written in PHP intended to handle the administration of MySQL over the Web. phpMyAdmin allows you create and manage databases with a simple web browser.
Backup
It is always a good idea to make routine backups of your data in case something tragic happens. We've given you the ability to make backups through the control panel, and save them to your computer.

How much does it cost? How will I pay?

The prices vary based upon which billing term you choose. We offer a month-to-month plan that costs $11.70/month or 3 months for $9.99/month. There is a $50 setup fee for the month-to-month and 3 month terms. However, with our 12 month, 24 month, or 72 month terms the setup fee is waived, and you get your domain name for free!

When will I be billed?

When you signup you will be billed for the entire term you are signing up for. This means if you signup for the 12 month term you will be billed the total price, up front. So, if you signup for the month-to-month (1 month) term then you will be billed the first month and one-time setup fee up front. At the end of your billing term, your account will be billed for the next term of service.

What if I already own a domain name?

Not a problem! On the order page, just select the plan that says Use my already registered domain name. Then, it's as easy as pointing your domain to our name servers.

Can I cancel the service? What about my domain?

If you are unsatisfied at all during the first 60 days you can cancel your service and receive a full refund, less any setup or domain registration fees. After 60 days you may still cancel your service at any time.

The nonrefundable domain registration means you own your domain name — even if you cancel your web hosting service. You will need to transfer your domain to a registrar.
